Consent for treatment of children must be given by both parents/caregivers, and treatment involves consultations with the parent/caregiver throughout the process. The parent/caregiver is expected to stay on site, and the counseling room has a window so that the parent/caregiver can see the session.
Child centered play therapy is based on the idea that play is the language of children and toys are their words. Since children cannot process thoughts, emotions and experiences through typical ‘talk therapy’; play is children’s symbolic language of self-expression. Play therapy provides opportunities for managing situations and learning to cope through self-directed exploration.
